Dane Sweeny, is an Australian professional tennis player originating from the Sunshine Coast.
Achieving a career-high ATP singles ranking of No. 195 and a doubles ranking of No. 160, Sweeny's journey began in the juniors, representing Australia at the 2015 ITF World Junior Tennis Finals. Making his mark in the professional scene, he debuted in the ATP Tour at the 2021 Great Ocean Road Open and in February 2022, Sweeny won his first ITF titles in singles and doubles in Canberra.
Dane has achieved several impressive firsts so far in 2024.
After earning his spot and qualifying for his first Grand Slam main-draw at the Australian Open, Sweeny valiantly pushed 22nd seed Francisco Cerundolo to five sets in the opening round. He then broke into the world’s top 200 in February after progressing to a first ATP Challenger final.
An absolute highlight for the hard-working Sweeny was being personally selected by the world No.1, Novak Djokovic, to serve as his practice partner before each match at Rod Laver Arena during the Australian Open.
When Dane isn't on the court, he loves spending time in nature, going on solo treks or camping trips whenever he can. He also has a huge passion for his side project with his best mate - capturing behind-the-scenes moments of 'life on tour.' Together, they create videos and content that offer insights into the traveling athlete's lifestyle, both on and off the court.
